The Cold War was the war between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics or Russia and the countries that it claimed after WWII. It was called the Cold War because it wasn’t actual a physical war with real conflicts. It was the war of ideas, the ideas of communism and capitalism and the ideas of totalitarianism and democracy. Communism and capitalism are rivals while totalitarianism and democracy are enemies. This war lasted 40 long years.

President Harry S. Truman -

• president during the Korean War
• became president when President Roosevelt died
• served two terms
• very honest

• wanted to use Nuclear weapons
• relieved of duty by President Truman

Cuban Missile Crisis -

• Russian nuclear missiles located in Cuba pointed at the US
• JFK and Nikito Khrushchev organized deal
• US to missiles out of Turkey and USSR took missiles out of Cuba
• A nuclear testing ban was then organized

Fidel Castro -

• communist leader of Cuba

Bay of Pigs Invasion -

• CIA invasion of Cuba, ended in fiasco
