Daniel is traveling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
They say Spain is pretty though I've never been
Well Daniel says it's the best place that he's ever seen
Oh and he should know, he's been there enough
Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much
Daniel my brother you are older than me
Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal
Your eyes have died but you see more than I
Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky
Daniel is traveling tonight on a plane
I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain
Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye
God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes
Oh God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes

"back to "Songs of the Vietnam Era"

I chose this song because I liked how the song writer related it to something that the men actually experienced when they came home from the Vietnam War and how he wrote it about his “older brother”. The message of this song is about a guy who is escaping from home after being blinded from the war. It is told from the view of the vets younger brother who misses him and wants him to come back home. These lyrics show how one person feels after they come back from the war. The lyrics also don’t make you want to be apart of the war because of the reaction of the vet.
